RHONJ Teresa Giudice’s Last Minute Reprieve – Bankruptcy Auction Cancelled
Things are already starting to look up for The Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice this month. Her husband Joe was released from his short stint in jail for a DUI last week and now the bankruptcy auction that was supposed to take place on Sunday has officially been cancelled.
For anyone hoping to snatch up a piece of RHONJ history, you’re just going to have to wait! Lawyers for the Giudice family have been able to get the auction cancelled for a second time (it was initially planned for August 22).
The Giudice’s legal team have convinced the bankruptcy court that it would be better served by holding a private sale with an elite clientele in order to to maximize the amount of money the trustee can get for their valuables.
At issue is the amount allowed by the court as exemptions to the family. No matter what the auction brought in, the Giudices would be entitled to $52,000 before anything was given to their creditors. Apparently the trustee expected to earn less than their exemption at a public sale so he called the whole thing off.
Guess we’ll have to wait to pick up some of Teresa’s fabulous home furnishings until a later date.
