Christina Applegate designs necklace for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, kicking off today, celeb mom-to-be Christina Applegate has helped design a beautiful necklace to raise money for her Right Action for Women foundation.

Christina Applegate herself is a breast cancer survivor, undergoing a double mastectomy last year, even though cancer was only detected in one of her breasts. Her mother is also a breast cancer survivor.

Applegate, along with jewelry designer Alex Woo, worked together to design the pendant necklace called “Tree of Life.”

The website describes the jewelry piece for Breast Cancer Awareness Month: “the pendant with an encircled tree represents harmony, hope and renewal. Each of the seven leaves remind us to live everyday of the week to the fullest. The feminine curves of the tree and branches signify the delicate handmade ribbon roses Christina made for her loved ones while battling breast cancer. This pendant is an everyday reminder of the most important things in life, to stay vigilant about breast cancer awareness and steps to early detection.”

Christina Applegate commented, “I am so grateful to Alex for creating such a beautiful piece to benefit Right Action for Women. Proceeds from the necklace will help women at high risk for breast cancer get the screenings and testing they need to beat this disease.”

You can buy the Breast Cancer Awareness Tree of Life necklace at the Alex Woo website. The necklace is absolutely beautiful – I only wish it was more affordable for more people.

You are right on all accounts: the necklace is totally beautiful. But there is just no way I can afford that. I think it’s a total missed opportunity on their part by having it be that expensive: most of us who would snatch that up for ourselves and as a gift for someone else are out of that price range.

Thanks to Ms. Applegate, and transformative pop culture like MTV’s “Save the Girls” campaign, “awareness” has upstaged “embarrassment”: http://www.dailyscoff.com/?p=2652

It’s about time…

Love it but I am with Constellation. Maybe in a silver with a lower price tag? Just a thought Alex Woo – for us working classers out here.
