Catherine Zeta Jones: Michael Douglas Finishing Up Cancer Treatment
Catherine Zeta Jones, 41, yesterday said husband Michael Douglas, who is fighting throat cancer, is “doing very well.” The Academy Award-winning actress was at the Ryder Cup “Welcome to Wales” gala in her native country’s capital of Cardiff.
“He is holding up with strength and dignity,” she reports. “He is about to finish his treatment and the doctors could not be happier.”
A friend of Zeta-Jones’s said: “Catherine said Michael was home rooting for the American team, while she is rooting for team Europe. It keeps thing interesting!”
As for Zeta-Jones’s attendance at the event, the friend noted, “This has been on her calendar for months, and Michael insisted she go. They are both golf lovers. This is important to Catherine and to Wales, so she made it a quick trip to be a part of the important night, and get right home.”
Zeta-Jones told attendees at the event, “Michael will be on Skype screaming for the Americans. He wishes he could be here.”
Douglas’ movie Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps opened last week with critics praising his performance.
