Will Deadliest Catch Be Sunk by Fleeing Captains?

deadliest catch captains Will Deadliest Catch Be Sunk by Fleeing Captains? There’s a perfect storm brewing over at Discovery TV’s Deadliest Catch.   Not only did beloved Captain Phil Harris pass away earlier this year, but now the three remaining captains have decided to jump ship from the reality series.

Captains Sig Hansen and brothers Johnathan and Andy Hillstrand have opted to leave the show due to an ongoing lawsuit with the network.

“We have been through a lot over the past year and unfortunately given the current situation with Discovery we are unable to continue participating in Deadliest Catch,” the trio say in a joint statement.

What caused the split?

“It has been a fantastic ride, and we wish the best to all of the amazing and supportive Catch fans we have met over the years,” the captains added.

The issue between the crab fishermen and the network comes down to a spin-off series that was to feature the Hillstrand brothers.  When the brothers pulled out of the project, the network sued them for $3 million earlier this month.

As it stands now only the sons of Captain Phil Harris, who died of stroke complications this spring, Josh and Jake Harris plan on returning for a new season.   Although they were compelling to watch following the death of Captain Phill, the Harris brothers won’t be able to carry the show themselves.

Will you watch without Sig Hansen and the Hillstrand Brothers?

NO, Absolutely Not. Leave these examples of fine hard working, loyal Americans alone. Sue them, hell we should thank them for their patience for putting up with the disruption of their livelyhoods

NO and I’ve never missed an episode before. If these guys aren’t on the show I will never watch it again. It wasn’t just the job it was their personalities that made the show. Without them, DC has nothing.

Yes, I will. Too bad the other captains are leaving, the Hillstrand brothers really need to grow up and finish out the contract THEY SIGNED for thier spin off show, shame on them. And shame on Captain Sig for even getting involved in the Hillstand’s business.

We don’t know the whole situation so can’t really comment but this does sound like big brother bully tactics. Crying shame to see them go. Will I see it anymore probable a few episodes to see what its like will I be an avid fan hell no.

I will not watch, this isn’t just a show it’s a lively hood for these men. I support the captains and shame on you DC for abusing the working man. Shame on anyone that thinks otherwise.
