John Travolta Cheating Scandal Hits ANOTHER Tab Cover. Leave Him Alone!
News of John Travolta’s alleged extramarital activities hit the newsstands earlier this month with a big, capital letter and exclamation point-laden cover of the National Enquirer. The report comes from author Robert Randolph whose tantalizingly titled You’ll Never Spa in This Town Again claims that John engaged in “lewd sex acts with other men” as part of a “secret gay spa subculture.”
It’s a SCANDALOUS story and sure to sell covers!!! (Insert sigh) This week it’s on the front of tabloid Star. Could this be true? Sure, why not. But is it our business and when do tabs go too far?
There have been plenty of cheating stories in the news lately, the most notable being Tiger Woods and Jesse James. But this info coming to light didn’t make me sick in a way that John’s story is. Tiger should have been exposed since his cheating was gregarious and excessive. Jesse, paired with the Nazi photos, seemed to deserve retribution. But John-not so much.
If any couple deserves their privacy and the chance to air their dirty laundry within the confines of their own home, it is the Travoltas. Their son Jett passed away in the Bahamas a little over a year ago, their dogs were killed in a freak airport accident, and now miraculously, Kelly is pregnant with twins. This should be a happy moment for them, devoid of tabloid headlines and over-energetic punctuation. Do we really need to know or at least speculate about John’s goings-on at spas? Will our lives be worse off if we never had this knowledge? If celebrity journalism lets one “news story” slide by in order to allow some happiness for a couple that deserves it, would it be so harmful to the industry?
Think about it. Will you buy this issue? If you do, it proves this story is a hit and there will only be more of this info hitting the presses.

It’s hardly a secret that Travolta is, shall we say, a “man’s man” and has been quite active in the more upscale, selective gay hangouts for many years.
No big deal.
Kim commented on Oct 05 10 at 5:25 amIs there really nothing new to talk about? They have to dive back into the decades old “is he or isn’t he?” story? Please. I admit to buying the rags once in a while but if all they have to sell me is the same crap that was being whispered when JT was a sweathog,I’m just not interested.
