The Sister Wives family sat down recently for this Today show interview (video) to talk about the series premiere.
TLC’s newest spin in the reality genre is Sister Wives, tying nicely into TLC’s need to air the goings on of large families. Sister Wives explores their plural family – they all live in the same house, although it’s split into three different apartments.
How did this lifestyle come to be? Why did Kody choose polygamy? Brown said it was part of a faith belief. He married first wife, whose father is a polygamist, so she is familiar with this lifestyle, and she accepted that there would be other wives in the family.
One of his wives comments, “The faith is about family, and it’s about working together and overcoming our faults and raising beautiful children and having a happy family.”
Kody calls it “accelerated personal development,” but how do they make it all work? There is definitely a schedule in place to be fair with time and relationships.
With the latest fourth wife, there was also some feelings of jealousy as they worked to add another woman and children to the mix.
