Victoria Beckham celebrates Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

Victoria Beckham is fresh off her Fashion Week high, and telling the world about it. The former pop star has become a full-fledged designer, showing her creations to great reviews at last week’s New York Fashion Week. Beckham appeared on The View Friday and talked about her success.

“It’s been a real whirlwind,” she said. “I’m in my fifth season and just showed my fifth collection during Fashion Week and it was a huge success…To be on the cover of WWD is such a big deal.” But she wants fans to be clear that it’s not an easy path–and that she’s a very hands-on designer, in her studio, testing out fabrics on herself and using a system of trial and error.

But perhaps the most surprising comment–to us, at least–was said when Beckham discussed women’s curves. The designer has made a point of using healthy models in her runway shows, rather than ones who look too sickly or thin. “I want to celebrate a woman’s curves,” she said. But at least she recognizes the irony of that statement: “…Though you’re right, I don’t have that many myself. I love a woman’s body and I want to make women look and feel fantastic.”

Would you wear Beckham’s designs?
