Steven Tyler Is Ready to School the Idol Kids – What Were They Thinking?
Earlier today American Idol announced that Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler would be the new judges joining Randy Jackson at the judges table this season. Jennifer Lopez – OK she’s fairly current, but whey would they pick Steven Tyler?
Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has a wealth of knowledge from decades of rock ‘n roll adventures and he’s ready to share his experience with the kids over on the Idol stage. The thing about both Lopez and Tyler is that they are both hard-core performers who have mastered the art of working the crowd. As a true rock n’ roll idol, Tyler couldn’t be better suited for passing on his wisdom to the new performers.
Who is Steven Tyler and why is he the American Idol judge?
Rock and Roll Icon. Tyler is one of a handful of performers who has achieved true icon status. As the frontman of Aerosmith, Tyler has been rocking the mic for four decades with a trail of hits to his name. Not one to just stand behind a mic and sing, Tyler is best known for his high-energy performances and unusual outfits including with his trademark scarves hanging from his microphone stand.
Hall of Famer. Tyler and Aerosmith were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001. With hits including: Walk This Way, Cryin, Dream On, Living on the Edge, and I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing, they have offered up songs for three generations to enjoy.
Personality. Tyler certainly couldn’t last four decades in the spotlight without some major personality. He knows how to work a crowd and when to back off.
Father. Tyler is the father of four children and has one grandson. Daughter Liv Tyler is the result of a brief relationship between Tyler and model Bebe Buell (Liv is the mother of his one grandson – Milo, 5). Daughter Mia is the result of his marriage to model, Cyrinda Foxe. His third marriage to clothing designer, Teresa Barrick, resulted in daughter, Chelsea Tallarico, 21, and son, Taj Tallarico, 18.
