Her Mrs. Brady days are far behind her but that was she is known for, famous for and can’t be forgetten for. But she is so much more! So who is Florence Henderson? Florence Henderson was born on Valentine’s Day (February 14th) in 1934 in Indiana. She is 76.
She is the youngest of ten, yes TEN, children. Her mom was a stay at home mom (and how couldn’t you be with ten children) and her dad was a tobacco sharecropper.
Her performing career started as a singer and dancer in musicals like Oklahoma! And South Pacific. She went on to star on Broadway.
Florence was starred in the Broadway hit Fanny, she was the first to star in the role and did a awe inspiring 888 performances.
The was the very first woman to be a guest host on The Tonight Show in the Johnny Carson era.
She also was what was called “The Today Girl” and did weather, fluff pieces and light news the Today show.
She was Mrs. Brady from 1969 to 1974. The role was originally offered to Shirley Jones (aka Mrs. Partridge), but she turned it down.
After she left Brady land, she made oodles of appearances on the $25,000 Pyramid, had a cooking show called Country Kitchen on TNN, hosted Later Today, and hosts the Florence Henderson Show (which is on the RLTV – Retirement Living TV) and now, hello Dancing with the Stars!
