Nicole Richie in her healthier phase.

We all remember the infamous photos of Nicole Richie’s ematiated bikini bod a few years ago–the visible ribs and complete lack of body fat shocked and scared fans. Which is why it’s such a relief to see Richie in a bikini now, looking significantly more healthy.

The mom of two was spotted vacationing in Mexico with friends and actually had some meat on her bones. The 29-year-old spoke with Marie Claire U.K. earlier this year, and shot down any rumors of an eating disorder. “I felt it was a little unfair to say someone has an eating disorder when they don’t,” she said. “It’s extremely insulting and irresponsible. An eating disorder is serious and it’s a disease. I don’t think you can lightly say someone has a disease unless they are openly telling you that they do.”

But, despite her adamant denial, there’s no doubt Richie was looking utterly frail and unhealthy back in those days. Whatever her reasoning or strategy, she seems to be on a better path now–which will hopefully set a great example for her kids, Harlow, 2, and Sparrow, 1. See her healthier bikini bod here.
