It's Talk Like A Pirate Day! You can sound like the Dread Pirate Roberts.

It’s almost Talk Like A Pirate Day 2010, matey, otherwise known as every day at my house, where I have a 5-year-old boy who once owned five eye patches and three hooks. (The vacuum cleaner sadly diminished those collections.) TodaySeptember 19 is the one day of the year when it’s okay to say “Shiver me timbers,” “yo ho ho and a bottle of rum” or “Blow the man down” without looking like you’re imitating Steve the Pirate in “Dodgeball.”

With that in mind, here’s some famous pirate parents and kids’ pirate characters we love, including those two leads from “Pirates of the Caribbean:”

Johnny Depp (Capt. Jack Sparrow)

Orlando Bloom (Will Turner)

Geena Davis (“Cutthroat Island”)

Capt. Feathersword (Wiggles)

Anyone from “Muppet Treasure Island”

Kurt Russell (“Captain Ron”)

Chunk and Sloth (“The Goonies” – best movie ever, btw)

Dustin Hoffman (“Hook”)

Mighty Mouse (“Mighty Mouse Pirates”)

The Dread Pirate Roberts (“The Princess Bride”)

Who did I miss? Who are your favorite pirates?

Actually, it’s a few days away – falling on the 19th every year, not the 17th. Been reoccurring for a few years now and a common geek tradition.

How about Robert De Niro as Captain Shakespeare in Stardust?
