Michelle Obama Hates Being First Lady Says France’s Carla Bruni
Carla Bruni's biography claims Michelle Obama hates being First Lady
According to the First Lady of France, Carla Bruni, her fellow First Lady Michelle Obama “hates” the role, and confided that she “can’t stand it.” The former model, who has dated the likes of Mick Jagger, and wife of French President Nicholas Sarkozy makes the claim in the new biography, Carla and the Ambitious, which she helped author.
The alleged statement was made during a private conversation between the two first spouses during the Sarkozy’s White House visit in March. Bruni claims in the book she asked Michelle Obama about her role as the wife to the President of the United States, ad the First Lady supposedly answered, “Don’t ask! It’s hell. I can’t stand it!”
If people give credence to the allegation, that won’t do much to help Michelle Obama’s popularity coming off various personal vacations — and the book probably won’t do much to help Carla Bruni’s image either. Shouldn’t a First Lady wait until AFTER their husbands leave office to spill offensive anecdotes?
What do you think? Without the context, it’s difficult to know what the First Lady could have meant. (Maybe she is worried for her children’s safety, for example, and that of course would be hell.) Will this revelation hurt Michelle Obama’s image? Regardless, perhaps the Sarkozy’s shouldn’t expect an invitation to the White House anytime soon,
