Jamie Oliver Baby Name Revealed: Buddy Bear Maurice Oliver
News came yesterday that Jamie Oliver’s wife Jools gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Now comes news of the name the kid’s been saddled with: Buddy Bear Maurice Oliver. Hopefully they’ll just go with “Buddy” or “Maurice” or even BBM because someone’s gonna get teased the first day of school if the teacher yells out, “Buddy Bear?” and the poor child has to raise his hand and declare “Here!”
But Buddy Bear might want to be thankful the Olivers didn’t stick with their flower theme… It could easily have been Buddy Bulb. The other Oliver children are the very aromatic: Petal Blossom Rainbow, 17 months, Daisy Boo Pamela, 6, and Poppy Honey Rosie, 8½. Regardless, it’s not the name that counts so much as the family is healthy and happy.

Christine Robinson commented on Sep 17 10 at 12:49 pmI think its a lovely name – Buddy is an English name which means Messenger – Bear denotes strength – i think that it is a really nice name – and lets face it who are we to make comments really – we can all call our children pretty awful names in the long run – I for one hate the name Nicolas (or Knicker-less as the poor boy in my class at school got called!!)
kate commented on Sep 17 10 at 2:41 pmI think it’s kind of sweet, and certainly as nicknames any and all of them are adorable. In my family, it’s pretty usual that kids have formal names and then nicknames — so I could see having a Buddy and a Daisy, but I’d probably give them a legal name they could wear into adulthood as well. But really, in the scheme of things I think it’s a stretch to call this “cruel.” Those kids will grow up with nice loving parents who can provide for them (and cook for them!). They’re doing okay.

Niki commented on Sep 20 10 at 11:49 amNonononono I liked Jamie, he seemed to have a great sense of humour & his head screwed on right. Why’d he have to go and kill my admiration for him by inflicting such a ridiculous name on his poor son like “buddy bear”, the kid already looks pissed off (per the photo). I only just found out he had third daughter named petal blossom rainbow, arrrrggghhhhh.. I just don’t get it, it’s his only son and he’s guaranteed the kid a life of harassment and torture until he’s old enough to change his name (and divorce his parents for being so cruel). I mean, jamie’s parents were decent enough to give him a nice, normal name, why can’t he be as considerate to that poor little blighted. I reckon Jamie should be forced to change his name to ‘Buddy bear”, and his wife to petal blossom or daisy-boo, for a year and see how they like it. Seriously, please, Jamie, there’s still time to do the right thing and change it, and I don’t mean to “moon-unit”.
