Katherine Schwarzenegger A Wonderful Role Model For Young Girls
Katherine Schwarzenegger inspires girls to have a positive body image.
Katherine Schwarzenegger is definitely following in her famous parents’ footsteps as far as speaking her mind and making a statement goes. She is the 20-year old daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, and she has just written her own book, entitled “Rock What You’ve Got: Secrets To Loving Your Inner and Outer Beauty From Someone Who’s Been There And Back.”
Katherine got the inspiration for the book after she overheard her 8-year old cousins talking about their bodies in a negative light. According to Katherine, they were “talking about how they don’t want to be fat and how they want to be sexy.” Hearing them say those things about themselves really hit home for her, because she struggled with body image as a young girl too.
Katherine wanted to get the message across to young girls with her book that they need to accept themselves. She says, “I want girls to read this and feel that it’s OK to be themselves—and to understand that every girl can be beautiful no matter what size and shape she is. You don’t have to look like you’re on a billboard to feel beautiful. I really wanted to correct girls’ perception of that.”
In addition to setting a wonderful example for young girls, Katherine’s book also features a section for moms on tips on how to raise daughters to have a positive body image. I’m sure that is a topic that any mother of girls would love to have some insight on.
Sounds like Katherine is an incredible girl, and there is no doubt that this is only the beginning of what is sure to be an inspiring journey for her.
