America’s Got Talent Final Four: Can Anyone Beat Jackie
“America’s Got Talent’s” final four have been revealed! Jackie Evancho, Prince Poppycock, Michael Grimm and Fighting Gravity will be tussling for the title in next week’s season finale—no big surprises. What the “America’s Got Talent” results show lacked in suspense it made up for in awkward green room moments. (Really, what do they talk about back there? How totally uncool it was for Nick Cannon to suggest that Jeremy or Christina and Ali were moving on when they really weren’t?)
Now the big question is can anyone beat Jackie Evancho, the 10-year-old opera singer who wowed the crowd again yesterday with that ethereal voice of hers. Did you notice how tiny she looked next to the 12-year-old dancers? Hard to believe that huge voice comes out of that small body.
Grimm is talented but there’s nothing special about him; we’ve seen his kind before on “American Idol.”
Fighting Gravity is unique, no doubt about it, and would make a terrific Vegas act. But I don’t think they have the fan base that Jackie does.
Prince Poppycock is the wild card. His rich voice alone might not be enough to win, but his performances are more like performance art; he’s just unique enough that I think he’ll give Jackie a run for her money. But she’s still the favorite.

What ARE her parent’s thinking? They say Las Vegas is more family friendly these days, but that’s like saying Times Square is a perfectly safe place to put a pre-school playground.
Questionable judgement aside, I think that it’s delicious that two very different opera singers are leading on a nationwide American talent show. There’s hope this country yet..maybe they’re not all quite as intellectually challenged as they often seem.

He’s like a mix of a young Bruce Springsteen, Joe Cocker, and old blusey soul. Even if he doesn’t win, someone would be foolish not to give him a record deal.
Jackie is darling – amazing talent, and she sang like an angel the other night. But, I agree with those who don’t think Vega$ is an appropriate venue for a 10-year-old (she’s too classy). If you look her name up, you’ll see she has already sang with David Foster and has a lot already lined up. If she doesn’t win, she’ll do fine. AGT got her out there more, but she’s already making a name for herself – and rightfully so.
I have a love/hate thing going with Poppycock. He’s definitely a talented singer, but he’s getting campier each time and a little of that goes a long way. I see him on Broadway more than a Vegas act. I wish Michael Grasso got in instead of PP for that reason. A magician is definitely Vegas.
Of all the finalists, Fighting Gravity seems most like a Vegas act. I can easily see them headlining while Michael Grimm collects GRAMMYS, PP collects TONYS, and Jackie sings at the Met, on PBS, and around the world.
Really, the best acts made the final four. Congrats to all!
