David Letterman on The View: I’d Like To Have More Kids (with VIDEO)
David Letterman was on “The View” debut this morning, his first-ever guest appearance on the show. Ostensibly he was there to compare notes (and, it turned out, scars) with fellow open-heart surgery patient Barbara Walters. But the talk turned to children, as it inevitably does on “The View,” and when asked if he wanted more of them, Letterman replied, “I’d like to have more kids.”
Interesting. This comes nearly a year after he admitted to cheating on his wife, Regina Lasko, while they were dating with a series of employees at “The Late Show with David Letterman.” Was the funnyman, who almost never appears on other people’s talk shows and rarely discusses his home life without joking, signaling that everything is now okay between him and his wife? (Keep reading for video.)
It’s hard to tell, because in the next instant after Letterman said seriously that he wanted kids, he cracked a joke that he hadn’t told his wife yet.
But Letterman did make it sound as though life for the family of three is on track a year after his scandal. He said they just got a dog, which his son named Sully. (Letterman described him as “the spawn of satan.”)
Letterman also said that he will probably watch Conan O’Brien’s new show on TBS. “I’ll watch it – I’ve always liked Conan,” he said, minutes after doing his Jay Leno impression.
Letterman also examined Walters’ scar from her surgery when he first came out on stage. And he referenced his father when discussing his own quintuple bypass surgery some years back.
“My father dropped dead when he was 57. I had the surgery when I was 53. So for me it was more about looking forward [than regretting things he couldn't do anymore],” he said.

Sue Donimm commented on Sep 07 10 at 7:31 pmPlease, the woman is like, what . . . 50? You know, he is such a hypocrite, he used to mock older men having kids, I remember he ridiculed Anthony Quinn and here he is doing the exact same thing. Grow up Caligula, its over Johnny! The “interview” was his usual “spin” crap, no one (aside from Hasselbeck) said anything remotely to jostle the great icon Letterman. Please, he signed his own postscript forever with his own sociopathic behavior for decades with woman after woman. Sick.
