Rachel Wade Sentenced: Teenage Love Triangle Murderer Gets 27 Years in Prison
Rachel Wade, the teenage girl who murdered her romantic rival, Sarah Ludemann, was sentenced to 27 years in prison.
Wade who is now 20, was found guilty of second-degree murder in July of the April 2009 stabbing of Ludemann and was sentenced in a Florida court today.
Wade could have received life in prison, but Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Judge Joseph A. Bulone said he wouldn’t hand it down because of her age and lack of maturity, news reports stated. He said, however, that her lack of remorse demanded a lengthy sentence.
Wade had murdered the 18-year-old Ludemann because the two were involved in a twisted and drama-filled love triangle that lasted for months with same young man, Joshua Camacho. There had been numerous confrontations between the girls.
But the most damning evidence from the trial was a collection of threatening voice mail messages from Wade to Ludemann.
Wade is heard threatening Ludemann and said, “I’m guaranteeing you that I’m going to f***ing murder you, I’m letting you know that now.”
The jury fell silent after the messages were played in court, and Wade began crying.
Prosecutors Wesley Dicus described the stabbing as so violent that the knife blade was bent.
Wade’s attorney, Jay Hebert, maintained that his client acted in self defense, saying that on the night of the murder, Ludemann and her friends were on their way to “jump” Wade. Months and months of vicious taunts and bickering came to a head, he explained, and it was Ludemann, not Wade, who started the fatal fight.
During his closing argument, Hebert told the jury, “Sarah was the aggressor. They couldn’t stop her. She went looking for Rachel that night.”
Our prayers are with the Ludemann family.

Patricia Mercks commented on Sep 05 10 at 9:20 pmI am glad in 2 ways 1 that she did get more than 15 years and 2 because she did not get life. She is just too young to spend the rest of her life in prison, even tho Sarah will not ever come home.
Patty Macias commented on Sep 06 10 at 1:52 amI feel for both parents . This is such a horrible thing for them. I feel that Rachael and Sarah should have realized what a low life Josh is. Two lives have been lost and two families shattered because of him. I don’t think he should be in jail. It is not a crime to be a player, but I wish those two girls had just realized what he was like along time ago. Maybe this would never had happened. I think that if not for Josh, they might have been friends. They both had alot of things in common, like wanting to be a veternarian. What a total shame that this had to happen.

A question: If my son/17/ killed your daughter would you be glad that he will not spend his life in jail but he will spend 15?
Thank you.
