Inside the Sarah Palin Vanity Fair Article: 7 Things You Need to Know

SGY 019464 200x300 Inside the Sarah Palin Vanity Fair Article: 7 Things You Need to KnowCan you believe it has been only two years since Sarah Palin entered the national eye as the Vice Presidential candidate in 2008? Love her or hate her, Sarah is showing some major staying power at least in the pop cultural sense.

This week Palin is absolutely ripped to shredsin a new article by Vanity Fair magazine.  No longer looked upon as a small-town hockey mom, Palin is presented as a polarizing figure who isn’t quite sure where she is going and who is enamored with her own celebrity status.

So what does Vanity Fair have to say about Palin?

She goes by the code name ‘North Star’.   Her security nickname reckons to the state of the north where she keeps her roots.  The North Star is important in Alaska referred to in both the state flag and state song.  Maybe she’s still dreaming that she’s second in line for the presidency and using her Secret Service name?

Palin does not always treat the ordinary people very well.  She’s ranked as the all-time worst tipper at the Hyatt hotel in Wichita handing over only $5 for seven bags. That’s nothing compared to the hotel staff that she made wait for her until after midnight and didn’t tip altogether.  The only time she does tip well is apparenty is when the press is there to catch it on film.

Her personality is vastly different than her public persona.  We often see her warm and soft side in public, but her former staffers reveal that she is often indifferent and angry in private which has included screaming and throwing things.

Her very popular Facebook and Twitter posts may be ghostwritten.  It is rumored that Rebecca Mansour, co-founder of Conservatives4 a fiercely pro-Palin blog, is the writter behind the posts.  Until Mansour was hired the posts had a stiff one-note tone, but once she came on board the posts started capturing Sarah’s folksy charm.

She lacks some basic world knowledge.  During the 2008 campaign, John McCain’s aides were so concerned with her lack of general world knowledge (she reportedly didn’t know who Margaret Thatcher is) they attempted to get her to study up by giving her biographies and history books.   Sarah was easily distracted away from the study sessions by one of her three BlackBerrys.

She hates bloggers (at least the anti-Palin ones).  Following the 2008 presidential campaign while she still ran the Alaska governor’s office, Palin would become so focused on responding to online criticism that her administration would grind to a standstill.

She doesn’t hunt.  Remember that photo of Sarah holding the gun on a hunting trip?  It was allegedly staged.  “This whole hunter thing for Sarah?” says a family friend. “That woman has never hunted. The picture of her with the caribou she says she shot? She got out of the RV to pose for a picture.”
