He was a surprise win when he took home the Supporting Actor Emmy for his role as the stay at home dad Cameron on ‘Modern Family.’ So who is this Eric Stonestreet who took home the gold? Here are nine things about this award winning comedian.

He was born on September 1971 and is currently 38 years old.

He grew up in Kansas City, Kansas.

Eric graduated from Kansas State University in 1996

He loves Kathy Bates and would love to have him play his mom on Modern Family.

Before Modern Family, his other notable gig was as Ronnie Litre on CSI from 2001 – 2005.

He has done a ton of TV work including appearances on Bones, Monk, Nip/Tuck, West Wing, Malcolm in the Middle, and Dharma & Greg.

His first big gig was as Sheldon the Desk Clerk in Almost Famous back in 2000.

He brought, as a date to the Emmy’s his mom Jamie and his girlfriend, Katherine Tokarz.

His dog’s name Coleman Hawkins.
