TLC has decided to pull the plug on the hit reality show that follows the lives of Matt and Amy Roloff with their four children – Zach, Jeremy, Molly, and Jacob.

Now that the kids, three of whom are of standard height, are growing up and heading off on their own (twins Zach and Jeremy have graduated high school and branched off into adulthood) the network has decided it is time for them to move on as well.

“The show has been an amazing and unforgettable experience for our entire family,” Matt and Amy sayin a statement. “Over the past five years we have shared the most rewarding journey that will forever be in our hearts. We are gearing up to begin new and exciting adventures as a family and we look forward to starting the next chapter of the Roloffs. We will always be grateful to our TLC family, and most of all, our fans.”

As the finalseason debuts on September 6, the family will pick up from last spring’s cliffhanger of Matt falling unconscious in his home office.

Warning spoiler ahead……..

It turns out the often overworked dad was only suffering from a bout of vertigo and is doing well.  Once Matt’s health scare has been cleared up, the show moves on to twins Zach and Jeremy branching out into the world beyond their sheltered lives at the family farm.

Will Matt and Amy stop bickering?  Will Zach and Jeremy move out of the family home?  Will Jeremy continue in college?  Will Zach take over the farm?  Will Matt give up some control and relax a bit?

Guess we’ll find out when the new season premieres next month.

Really hate to see this show cancelled. It’s gotten better with age, particularly during the last two seasons. Despite the divorce “drama” that has been interjected into the show, Matt and Amy, along with their kids, are just great!

With the twins entering adulthood and the two younger children emerging from the shadow of their older siblings it seems to me you would have a freshening dynamic that would seem to make this show even more interesting. Add to that the growth of Amy and the continued adventures sparked by Matt, and you have a show that is just starting to get good.

I hope you take another look and reconsider your decision to scrap the show.
