In 2006, they commissioned 13 architects to build the affordable homes. Part of the Foundation’s mission is to build awareness about the ongoing struggle survivors face — for  many, the ordeal is still not over.  Here’s what one home recipient thanks to Make It Right had to say about Pitt: (Plus a link to photos of the beardless and gorgeous Pitt on his trip next.)

“New Orleans still has a long way to go to get back from Katrina but things are moving in the right direction thanks to guys like Brad Pitt,” Baxter Barnes, who has spent time with both Pitt and Angelina Jolie, told RadarOnline.com. “They are both genuine and down-to-earth people and if were not for them we, like a lot of other people, would not have homes back in New Orleans.”

Check out the photos of Pitt’s time in New Orleans here.
