9 Things About The Buckley School Michael Jackson Kids Are Going There!
Michael Jackson’s kids have been home schooled their whole lives but now they’ll be leaving the house and going, for the first time, to a traditional school. TMZ has reported that 13-year-old Prince and 12-year-old Paris have started at the well respected Buckley School. Prince really wanted to go to school to have “a social experience.” But not all of MJs kids will be enrolled there, 8-year-old Blanket will still be homeschooled for now. So what is the Buckley School like? Here are 9 things about this prestigious private school.
The Buckley School is in Sherman Oaks in San Fernando Valley in Southern California
The school has some pretty famous and infamous alumnis like Matthew Perry, Alyssa Milano, Nicole Richie, Nicollette Sheridan, Laura Dern, Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian. Yeah, apparently you don’t have to be a Mensa Club member to get in!
Other notable alumni with famous parents include Quincy Jones daughter the actress Rashida Jones, Marlon Brando’s son Christian,
And the school doesn’t just turn out actresses and socialtes, also alumni of the school are the author Bret Eaton Ellis, the film director Paul Anderson, and members of the band The Strokes and Phantom Planet.
The school was founded in 1933 by Isabelle Buckley, hence the name.
It is the oldest “co-educational independent day school in the Los Angeles area.”
The school has their own philosophy – “the ‘4-Fold Plan of Education’, which emphasizes equally academic training, creative self-expression, physical development and moral education.” But the moral education classes must have been skipped by Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian!
The school has 750 students from kindergarten to twelfth grade and there are about 17 kids in each middle school classroom and just 15 in each high school classroom.
And the Buckley school ain’t cheap. It costs $25,769 each year for kindgergarten to fifth grade and $29,010 for sixth grade through twelfth.
