“The Switch’s” Jennifer Aniston on “GMA:” Why She Responded to Bill O’Reilly (VIDEO)
Appearing on “Good Morning America” to promote “The Switch,” Jennifer Aniston explained this morning why she chose to respond when Fox News Channel host Bill O’Reilly pounced on her comments about single mothers earlier this month.
(Apparently “Good Morning America” anchor George Stephanoupolos did not get the memo that every interviewer of Jennifer Aniston is supposed to ask her when she’s going to have some babies. He did not ask that question this morning, but it was still a good interview.)
Give it to Aniston, she was totally poised and responded first with sarcasm and then with a good point: O’Reilly wasn’t just insulting her for her comments on single mothers, she was insulting women who have to raise children on their own. See, sometimes it’s not a choice.
Continue reading to see what she said.
When Stephanoupolos first broached the subject, Aniston laughed a bit and said she never expected her name to be in the same sentence with O’Reilly’s. Then she busted him for misunderstanding her original comments.
(Quick primer: Aniston said that men are optional for women raising children. O’Reilly sort of hijacked what she said and turned it into an argument for teenage pregnancy.)
This morning Aniston joked, “I was actually glorifying 12-year-olds going out there and getting knocked up and doing it themselves, because that’s what I like to preach. I mean,” she trailed off, shaking her head.
But Aniston went on to explain why she responded to O’Reilly’s comments: “It wasn’t just saying it about me. It was insulting women that are out there doing this on their own. I was raised by—my mother was single. It doesn’t always start off that way.”
So true, Jen. Here’s video of what she said.
