Celeb Mom Erykah Badu Fined, Gets Probation: Fair Punishment for Racy Music Video?
Remember Erykah Badu’s racy music video for “Window Seat,” where she stripped down to nothing on a Dallas city street in front of everyone standing by – including kids?
Erykah Badu was fined $500 and has to serve six months probation for the naked video stunt, but some are wondering if that’s enough of a punishment.
Erykah Badu was said to be re-enacting the moment President John F Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, but why the need to strip off her clothes as she walked at Dealey Plaza?
That’s artistic interpretation, right? But while I’m all for art, I wouldn’t want my kids to witness a woman stripping down to her birthday suit in the middle of the day.
Badu was charged with disorderly conduct over the stunt – as you can imagine, the people that were on hand for the striptease complained.
During an interview with Wanda Sykes in April, Erykah Badu said of the racy video shoot, “J.F.K. is one of my heroes, one of the nation’s heroes … Kennedy was a revolutionary; he was not afraid to butt heads with America, and I was not afraid to show America my butt-naked truth.”
