21-year-old Former Compass Bank Teller gets Home Detention with Parents
Imagine your 21-year-old daughter being charged with bank fraud and sentenced to eight months of home detention.
Haley Patterson, a former Compass Bank teller, was sentenced today to one-hour of imprisonment and eight months home detention for her role in a bank fraud scheme that took $41,800 from older bank customers.
That’s right, one hour. Patterson already served her sentence today from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in a U.S. Marshal’s holding area in the federal courthouse, said her attorney, Tommy Spina.
Patterson will serve the home detention with her parents near Birmingham, Alabama.
Oy! Imagine her poor parents who have to ensure that their dear daughter will remain on best behaviour for an entire eight months.
“We think the sentence is unreasonable,” said Peggy Sanford, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorneys office.
Uh, yeah no kidding! A one-hour incarceration?
In addition to the in-home detention, the former Compass Bank teller was also sentenced to five years of supervised release, and is to pay $41,800 in restitution.
Patterson and another bank employee, Jonathan Goods, and Patterson’s boyfriend, Justin Salter, pleaded guilty to the bank fraud earlier this year.
“She is remorseful and is willing to do whatever is needed to pay back the restitution owed to Compass Bank,” according to Spina’s memo.
