Celebrity Parents & Surrogacy
As reported earlier, Neil Patrick Harris and his longtime partner David Burtka are expecting twins this fall via a surrogate.
This handsome duo aren’t the only celebrities who have used surrogacy to help conceive a child. Here we list the most recent celebrity babies who have come into this Hollywood life through the belly of another woman.
1. Sarah Jessica Parker & Matthew Broderick
Sarah and Matthew welcomed the arrival of twin daughters in June of 2009. Tabitha and Marion were born via a surrogate mother after Sarah Jessica Parker shared that she “tried and tried and tried to get pregnant.” But when she was unable to conceive, she and Broderick decided to use a surrogate mother to add to their family. She spoke very highly of the surrogate mom they chose, calling her “strong, bright, independent, thoughtful, caring, gracious and generous.”
2. Ricky Martin
Pop singer Ricky Martin’s twin boys Valentino and Matteo were born via surrogate mother in August 2008.
Of his decision to use a surrogate mother instead of adopting children, the singer told People Magazine, “Adoption was one option, but it’s complicated and can take a long time. Surrogacy was an intriguing and faster option. I thought, ‘I’m going to jump into this with no fear.”
3. Dennis Quaid & Kimberly Buffington
Dennia Quaid and Kimberly Buffington’s twins Thomas and Zoe, 2, were also born via surrogate mother. The family experienced a terrifying health scare when the babies were 12 days old and were accidentally administered a near fatal dose of blood thinning drug heparin at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The Quaid Family has since settled with the hospital for $500,000 and free health care with regard to the heparin overdose.
It’s really beneficial to have other options out in the world for parents who can not conceive children naturally. I am sure that Neil and David will be wonderful fathers to their new babies – a boy AND and a girl! Congratulations once again!
Have you used surrogacy to conceive a child? What was your experience like?

Some people told her “alquiler de vientre” (alquiler=rent) but she is unsure due to the rent term…cause you are not supposed to pay to a surrogate mother. http://www.womenhealthcenter.net/surrogate-motherhood.html
