Carrie Underwood did it, and so did Hillary Duff! Both of these stars recently married their hockey player beaus and discovered what Canadian woman have known for years – that hockey players rock! And they’re not the only stars who have discovered that fact – here are 5 other celebrities that have married their own NHL’er!
Candace Cameron Bure and Valeri Bure
Although she will forever be known as DJ Tanner to me, Cameron Bure is now more commonly known as wife to former NHL star Valeri Bure and mother to their 3 children. During a charity hockey game in 1994, former ‘Full House’ star Dave Coulier introduced Candace to Bure and, as they say, the rest was history. The couple married in 1996 and have 3 children together, daughter Natasha and sons Lev and Maksim.
Kristy Yamaguchi and Bret Hedican
The Olympic gold medallist and former Dancing with the Stars champion met the Stanley Cup winning hockey player back in 1995 at the gala opening of Vancouver’s new arena. The couple married in 2000 and have 2 daughters, Keara and Emma. I think it’s safe to say that these girls have a future on ice!
Willa Ford and Mike Modano
The self-proclaimed “Bad Girl of Pop” and her hockey star beau married in 2007 after over 4 and half years of dating on and off. Still playing for the Dallas Stars, Mike and Willa make Dallas their home along with their 2 dogs.
Gena Lee Nolin and Cale Hulse
Former Baywatch babe Gena Lee Nolin married her hockey star in 2004 and Hulse retired from the NHL in 2006. The couple have 2 children together, a son Hudson and daughter Stella.
Janet Jones and Wayne Gretzky
The former actress met The Great One in 1981 while he was a judge on Dance Fever and she was a 16 year old dancer on the show. Six years later during a Celtics-Lakers basketball game the two met again, and that’s when they hit it off. In a move that devastated hockey fans, Gretzky was traded from Edmonton to LA one month after his marriage. He and Janet are still married and have 5 kids. Gretzky was coaching the Phoenix Coyotes but has resigned from his post, and lit the Olympic cauldron during the 2010 winter Olympics held in Vancouver.
