jackie evancho 253x300 The Girl With The Golden Voice: Who Is Jackie Evancho (Americas Got Talent)? (VIDEO)Is Jackie Evancho “America’s Got Talent’s” most talented kid ever? We’re starting to think so after watching the amazing performance last night by the 10-year-old singer. Jackie was one of 12 acts who submitted their auditions via YouTube, and you can already tell she’s a favorite to win. There’s no one else on “America’s Got Talent” singing quite as well as she is.

She hit every note in a complex opera song with a soaring voice that sounds like it belongs to someone twice her age. Hearing her sing is almost eerie – she’s that good.

So who is this little girl from Pittsburgh? Here’s what we know, along with video of last night’s awesome audition.

– She began singing after her mom rented the video “Phantom of the Opera” two years ago. Her parents later entered her in a regional talent competition, where she finished second to a 20-year-old and beat nearly 200 other performers.

– She has already released one self-produced CD, “Prelude to a Dream.”

– She sang the national anthem at the home opener for the Pittsburgh Pirates this year.

– She’s scheduled to sing with Tim Janis at Carnegie Hall on Dec. 2.

– She’s in fifth grade.

– Her favorite kinds of music are classical crossover and pop.

– She likes sports.

i just refuse to understand how this child can have such an adult voice

I thought her performance was wonderful, she is obviously extremely talented, but can she handle Vegas? Is she right for Vegas? I’m not at all saying she shouldn’t go on, or even win the whole competition, but with her singing career already blooming, and that performance getting her nationwide recognition, I feel like Vegas is a waste of her talent and potential.

Evan Gretok commented on Aug 11 10 at 10:48 am

What a voice! It is like she is reincarnated from some famous singer.

Bettie Holmes commented on Aug 11 10 at 11:08 am

I felt blessed to be able to witness such a talented & gifted beautiful girl whom GOD has brought here to share one of a kind voice with the rest of the world. I will continue to follow her career & attend performances if possible.

what a blessing to have witnessed such a beautifil girl with such a GOD given talent & gift; truley , one of a kind: I will follow her career & try to attend performances if possible.

Watching her on AGT last night, the first thing that raced through my mind was Deanna Durbin. If anyone refuses to believe such a young girl can have a voice that pure, watch one of Durbin’s first movies. They are on DVD now. Evancho is the Durbin for our time!

Robert commented on Aug 11 10 at 1:27 pm

Jackie has been called “an old soul” since she started singing a couple years ago, so it’s no surprise to hear that sentiment after last night’s show. I really doubt that she’d end up in a Vegas show even if she wins. I would much rather see her win, get her recording contract, maybe do a few shows around the country as an opening act, and the rest of the time just be a 10-year-old who shares her gift with the world through CDs and some appearances for now. Amazing gift!

A Fan commented on Aug 11 10 at 1:49 pm

As a lover of any good music, I was privileged to be watching AGT last evening and heard a little 10 year old girl sing from an opera, music that sounded like an angel was singing. I have listened to it dozens of times today and still can not believe what I am hearing. I thought Susan Boyle touched the world. This young lady now owns it.

Dr. Arnie commented on Aug 11 10 at 2:46 pm

THIS LITTLE GIRL HAS THE VOICE OF AN ANGEL. I REALLY DON’T CARE FOR CLASSICAL MUSIC, BUT HER VOICE IS CALMING TO MY EARS. I HOPE SHE ACHIEVES GREATNESS IN HER LIFE. HER FAMILY SHOULD ENCOURAGE HER EVERY STEP OF THE WAY.

ELLEN FURGERSON commented on Aug 11 10 at 3:33 pm

I was stunned as everyone was and I watched her lips closely; they did not seem to match the sound coming out..maybe it was my imagination

Barbie commented on Aug 11 10 at 3:33 pm

I agree with Evan Gretok and another Fan that she is too good for Las Vegas. She has a marvelous talent!

A Fan commented on Aug 11 10 at 4:53 pm

I was shocked, couldn’t believe it. She is above and beyond AGT. Give the Vegas show to the guys with glowing lights

Duane L.H. commented on Aug 11 10 at 5:29 pm

She brought tears to my eyes — in a good way!

Diane commented on Aug 11 10 at 6:05 pm

Dear Lord… I’m weeping… So much beauty in such a little package!!

Stephanie commented on Aug 11 10 at 6:30 pm

She has potential. If she wants to be a serious opera singer she needs to stop singing for 10 years and just train. Heer voice thins out to a child’s voice when she sustains a note. I wish her well if she stays away from the lure of fame and fortune

Lou commented on Aug 11 10 at 6:37 pm

Truly a God sent young singer. She has been blessed with a gift from God and I’m only praying that she’s given the opportunity to spread the joy she brings with her singing.

Randy C commented on Aug 11 10 at 6:46 pm

A consideration-Deanna Durbin did not need a microphone!

Charlie commented on Aug 11 10 at 7:22 pm

Another “Indigo” child has appeared.
If you don’t know what that is,Google Indigo Children.

Janie commented on Aug 11 10 at 7:28 pm

I also saw this lovely little girl blow everyone of their feet with her amazing voice ,I wondered if it was her singing at first and I watched as she sang to see if by some chance she was lip syncing especially since I don’t listen to classical music ,I don’t understand what they are singing, but I saw the way she moved her lips and whether her throat moved etc. and am totally amazed and I watched the video of the show and the you tube clip she my friends is the next great star in America I am as proud as I can be of her and I’m not even known by her

Di Anna commented on Aug 11 10 at 7:54 pm

I agree give AGT to some one else, she’s too good for that ,let her go far above and beyond …no offense to the other performers or AGT ,but ya’ll pale by in comparison

Di Anna commented on Aug 11 10 at 7:57 pm

Jackie has a natural talent that comes along just once in a great while. Charlotte Church comes to mind when I hear Jackie singing. However, given Jackie’s younger age and trying opera at 8, she is actually a bit more advanced. The AGT performance of Puccini OMBC is infinitely rewarding in it’s natural beauty and presentation. She really hit a home run on that one! When the focus and maturity come together as one, we may be witnesses to some of the most enchanting and beautiful audio tracks in recent history. I can tell that she’s very pleased and truly appreciative of the audiences reactions. I think Jackie could become to vocal music what M. Jordan is to professional basketball. Let us hope & pray that those guiding Jackie through her musical experience will see, that what’s truly meaningful is the sound of this gorgeous voice. Many singers have a heard, but Jackie’s sound caught my ear like none other has. Jackie, enjoy the happiness and pleasure that you are creating for us by your singing. May God bless.

JP commented on Aug 11 10 at 9:00 pm

I was so happy to hear her sing. It was like listening to angel. Please America let this girl go all the way on AGT. The kids need to hear this talented child with dreams. A dream can come true. I want to hear more from her. I can’t wait to hear what she is going to sing next. MY PRAYS ARE WITH YOU.

JILLES HOFMAN commented on Aug 12 10 at 12:08 am

Just once in a blue moon comes a voice that has been touched by God. Could this child be the new Deanna Durbin??

Alex Anisimow commented on Aug 12 10 at 7:31 am

I am Jackie’s grandmother. That is her singing, no lip synching. Look at her videos on youtube, especially the one where she is 7 years old (soon to be 8). Her singing the national anthem at the Pirate opener and she will be singing at the opening ceremonies for the US Open Tennis Tournament in New York. She sang with David Foster in New Jersey. For the nay sayers she is truly a gift from God. If she is lip synching, she is hood winking a lot of professionals. Just be happy for her and the talent God has given to her and she is sharing with the rest of the world.

Mary Caporale commented on Aug 12 10 at 9:34 am

Mary, thank you for your comment. I have a very Talented granddaughter who has been on stage and worked with Celine Dion. The naysayers were out there then too. Jackie sings like an angel. I only hope she will train properly and protect what she has been blessed with. She also needs to be a kid and enjoy life as all children her age needs. Being a Blind woman who loves Classical Music, she brought tears to my eyes from her rendition of, Giacomo Puccini’s aria ‘O Mio Babbino Caro’. She is truly Blessed and I hope one day to meet her and hear her in person.

Blessings Always to you and your family,
~Tea~

There is just no way this little girl wont win. None of the others can hold a candle to Jackie. She has my vote!

Angelia commented on Aug 16 10 at 2:33 pm

I wish Jackie much happiness at home with mother Lisa, father Michael, brothers Jaoob (Jake), Zach and sister Rachel. Family is everything! I’m so glad to find these four children were together in the dugout at the Pirates’ home opener in Pittsburg when Jackie sang our national anthem. Thanks for including bother Jake when you both sang “You are my Sunshine” on YouTube… so inspiring to me. I’m sure the song “Lean On Me” says a lot to your siblings, Jackie. They too will need support as you do. Now having a famous child in the family can be taxing but mom & dad will see to it that you remain humble and fun-loving through it all. Enjoy sports in school.
I can’t wait to buy your 2nd CD when it comes out.
Good luck at Carnegie Hall on Dec. 2nd.
I now wish you could join Kenny Rogers’ Christmas Concert in Elmira, NY, so that I can hear your angelic voice in person. He did invite singer Julienne Irwin from Bel Air, MD, back in 2008 to join him on tour when she was a runner-up in AGT.

André Samson commented on Aug 18 10 at 7:32 am

Stomp down amazing! The wee lass can SING! Keep plugging, Jackie…. you have a fine start!

Don M. commented on Aug 21 10 at 12:09 am

Seems to me the majority has spoken. We like Jackie Evancho to win!

Wayne commented on Aug 28 10 at 8:57 pm

When I first heard Charlotte Church, I thought to myself that I would never hear another child sing that well and look that beautiful. I now find that I was wrong on both counts.

Harry Westfall commented on Aug 30 10 at 5:49 pm

absolutely amazing and beyong imagination

Suzanne commented on Aug 31 10 at 11:47 pm

More proof on AGT tonight that Jackie is able amaze us over and over. J- sincerity, love and humility are the real winners in your life. Your singing is an incredible bonus gift. Thanks for being wonderful.

JP commented on Sep 01 10 at 12:33 am

This little girl is beyond wonderful. Truly a gem. But I don’t think her music or her age is appropriate for a Las Vegas show. They should give a special prize to her and award the AGT to Prince Poppycock or one of the other acts that fix exactly the Vegas mold.

RLH commented on Sep 02 10 at 9:08 pm

I believe it is her voice. The rest of people that don’t believe and think she sings lip-sync are the type of folks that are mediocre and don’t want to see that still in this world exist wonderful persons, gifted and determined. Very well done, dear Jackie! Follow your dreams and forget the rest that are brainless!

Jo commented on Sep 04 10 at 8:50 pm

I am a Presbyterian minister and obviously look for holy moments. Jacki sings and she speaks to a deep place in us. I am grateful for her uncommon gift, and even more thankful for her sweet spirit. Blair Monie, Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, Dallas

Blair Monie commented on Sep 13 10 at 10:23 pm

Yes! You were amazing again.
Jackie’s the best ever so far on AGT.
The Puccini was so beautiful- Good Job.
Carry those songs with you and find a home for them in your dreams. All the best…

John Pylypec commented on Sep 15 10 at 12:33 am

Jackie has, bar none, the most amazing voice I’ve ever heard, and that degree of control and composure in a 10-year-old is simply amazing. Her voice gave me goosebumps. I was a little disappointed that she didn’t win, but she has a lifetime ahead of her. The world has found her now, and won’t let her disappear again. Realistically, Michael Grimm had a terrific Vegas-style voice and deserved the win. Jackie, we’ll look forward to much more from you in the years to come. You have a God given talent. Preserve it, and enjoy being a child a bit longer. You have a great future ahead. All the very best to you . . .

netdesign commented on Sep 15 10 at 10:28 pm

Jackie is the most talented performer to ever set foot on the America’s Got Talent stage (or any amateur talent competition stage, for that matter). How can anyone actually believe that she shouldn’t have won?

Scott commented on Sep 20 10 at 8:48 am

I love both Jackie Evancho and Michael Grimm. They are both winner. God bless them both.

bruce do commented on Sep 20 10 at 2:51 pm

No disrespect to Micahel Grimm intended, but some people (actually, only an infinitely small number of people) have “it”, and some people don’t. Yes, Michael has talent, there can be no doubt whatsoever about that, but Jackie Evancho has “it”!

Scott commented on Sep 20 10 at 3:26 pm

Jackie Evancho scored yet another standing ovation last night while performing “Pie Jesu” before a packed house on “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno! Actor Jimmy Smits commnented that Jackie sounded “like an angel, like a voice from God”! Amazing!

Galen commented on Sep 24 10 at 7:15 am

Just a few days after she ‘lost’ on AGT, Jackie was on the Jay Leno show – Jay’s audience jumped by 2,000,000 viewers. And her performance, both the ‘Get Funky’ cheer and an even better performance of ‘Pie Jesu’, added to Jackie’s legend.

Jackie is already in hot demand on the talk show rounds – Ellen, the View, and others. It will be interesting to see if any of the other finalists make it to a talk show. And I saw one report that Jackie has been offered a six figure offer to, guess what – headline a Vegas show.

Larry commented on Sep 28 10 at 7:16 pm

I can verify that all the “rumors” you have heard are indeed true, Larry. In fact, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Jackie Evancho is the most in demand act that performed on AGT this year (or any year for that matter)! Unfortunately (for Micahel Grimm at least) it appears that the first place finisher on one of these talent shows is yet again destined to fade away into oblivion while the second place finisher goes on to stardom!

Anonymous Insider commented on Sep 28 10 at 10:28 pm

It’s best Michael Grimm won; Jackie could not have headlined the touring show in 25 cities — she has to go to school! So apparently her folks have settled on 10 cities. Also Michael Grimm needs the money to help his grandparents get a new home. He’s a humble and deserving guy. He knows that Jackie was the only one with world-class talent one the show, and has practically said as much. She’s got an incredible future in front of her. For Michael, this was his best and, realistically, only shot. I’m glad the voting ended up as it did. For one thing, it showed how amazing gracious Jackie can be when coming in second. She’s not just preternaturally gifted, she’s amazingly mature and sweet.

Brad Scharlott commented on Oct 04 10 at 7:57 pm

Jackie …. I’m impatiently waiting for June 14 when your first Columbia CD comes out. And once I have it I’ll be impatiently waiting for your next ,,, and your next ,,, and your next …etc., etc, etc.

Andrew Swanson commented on Jun 04 11 at 4:31 pm

Hello again Jackie …. the system set me up for a second letter so I’m taking advatage of it. Like many, many others, I love you. And who could help loving you when you embody these 3 characteristics: You’re a beautiful young girl, you have a wonderfully sweet personality as demonstrated on your interviews and, obviously, you hava a fabulous singing voice. Take good care of your body since you need a healthy body to support that great voice. And get plenty of sleep. And stay as sweet as you are – don’t let these God given assets go to your hear!
