Trista Sutter’s Advice for Ali & Roberto: Enjoy the Ride

bachelorette 300x300 Trista Sutters Advice for Ali & Roberto: Enjoy the RideTrista Sutter, the first Bachelorette and the only one to avoid its curse and actually succeed in the show’s main mission (or so they proclaim) of marriage is a pretty good source of advice when it comes to turning reality TV into wedded bliss.

She’s letting new couple Ali and Roberto in on her secret: Realize what’s real and what’s for the cameras.

It’s pretty darn simple to say, but rather hard, as every single other constant will vouch, to enact. They’ve gone from being unknown to having reporters hang on their every word, paps snapping shots of them performing mundane tasks like grocery shopping, and getting offers for interviews, shows, appearances. It’s a lot to handle if someone isn’t prepared and their ego can grow out of control easily.

Trista thinks Ali and Roberto have a good shot though. “I think that Ali’s doing great and they seem happy,” she told HollywoodLife.com and offered more advice.
“The best thing they can do is to enjoy the ride, but they need to understand that it’s just a ride, and they’re going to have to get off at some point and get back to life. It’s just a matter of knowing your priorities, and if they are each others’, then they should be fine.”

Trista knows where she is coming from. Years later and all the photogs and press and offers are gone, but she still has a happy life with Ryan and their children Max, 3, and daughter Blakesley, 1.

“I can’t say why others haven‘t succeeded, I can only speak to why Ryan and I have,” she continued. “For us, once we were off the show, we focused on making our relationship our priority and not buying into the hype. We don’t just love each other, we also like each other and respect each other and enjoy each other’s company. The fairytale situation of the show is just that. You’re completely and totally focused on whether or not you like this person, and reality doesn’t intrude at all. Then, when you get back to reality, it doesn’t always fit. For us, it did.”

Ali and Roberto have IT. They are probably the most intelligent and grounded couple ever to emerge from the Bachelorette/Bachelor franchise AND their chemistry is palpable. They connect on so many levels that I believe them when they say they will make each other their number 1 priority. Ali knows how to handle the press – she kept the finale a secret as well as her move to her new apartment. Kudos to both of them. May they have a long and happy marriage (from someone who has been loved unconditionally for 33 years) I met my husband on January 30th, we got engaged on April 19th and married on August 30th of the same year and it was love at first sight…
