Kudos, Johnny! Late Johnny Carson Gives $156 Million To Children’s Charity
No doubt at it: The late night talk show host Johnny Carson was a giving man. In 1981, In 1981, Carson created the John W. Carson Foundation, dedicated to supporting children, education and health services, and the foundation continues to support charitable causes. Today, it was announced the Carson left $156.5 million to the John W. Carson Foundation, according to the 2008 tax return posted by The Smoking Gun on its Web site on Monday.
The donations were used to benefit environmental organizations, AIDS charities, schools, children’s aid groups and not-for-profits in Nebraska, where Carson spent his formative years before settling in California.
