steve slater 5 Reasons Why Flight Attendant Steve Slater May Have SnappedJetBlue flight attendant Steven Slater has been in the news all day for the way he dramatically quit his job – telling a passenger what he really thought of her, grabbing a couple of beers and exiting the plane via emergency slide.

Here are 5 reasons why Steven Slater may have snapped:

1. His frustration has been building for some time. For someone who has spent 28 years as a flight attendant, you have to wonder if he’s been a ticking time bomb for years now. Maybe Steven Slater could only take crap from one more passenger. I mean, he was so close to being done with the flight – couldn’t he keep it together just a little bit longer?

2. Rude people suck. Steve Slater didn’t snap immediately, but rather told the passenger that she would have to remain seated until the plane made a complete stop. It was the passenger reportedly ignoring his request and swearing at him that caused the downward spiral.

3. Steven Slater may very well have been abused by passengers for years. Flight attendants are notoriously mistreated, as many people employed in the service industry are. You can only take so many “the customer is always right” situations before you lose your cool.

4. The pressure of taking care of his mom, who is suffering from cancer, had taken its toll. Slater has been reportedly caring for his ailing mother - that has to weigh on your mind while you’re at work.

5. Slater’s father died recently, he told police. Adjusting to the loss of a family member is never easy and given he has to care for his sick mother, it’s evident he could have used a break from work.

Steven Slater provided the following written statement to the Queens County District Attorney’s Office: “I lost patience after a female passenger had an argument with another passenger and then opened the bin door hitting me on the head without apologizing, I got on the microphone and said, ‘To those of you [who] have shown dignity and respect these last twenty years, thanks for a great ride.’ I accessed the porthole pulled the door handle inflating the slide, took my baggage and slid down the slide and left.”

Steve Slater pleaded not guilty in court to reckless endangerment and criminal mischief charges.

What do you think of Steven Slater? Was it okay for him to go off the deep end after becoming frustrated with a passenger? Did you ever wish you could quit a job so dramatically?

The woman who was rude and belligerent should have been booked for disrupting the flight and being a bitch. I work in customer servce and the customers know that they can treat you as badly as they want to and you can’t fight back. And if you do, YOU could be fired. It’s really sad. But people are not paid to be abused all day long. We are not robots and have feelings just like the customers. And yeah, we snap. I don’t even know why this guy was arrested. I wish I could afford to quit my job, telling off a few people on the way out of the office w/my box of belongs. Kudos to him!!!!

He should be given a thumbs up and released. It’s the rude passenger to deserves to be arrested.

What he did is wrong, but the passenger was equally in the wrong – she should be booked for assault.
