Kelly Rutherford: A Celeb Who Wants to Be Involved With Her Kids
Kelly Rutherford, also known as the uptight-but-also-really-caring Upper East Side mom on Gossip Girl wants everyone to know how much she plans to be involved in her kids’ lives. The 41-year-old actress has two kids with ex-husband Daniel Giersch: Hermes Gustaf Daniel, three-and-a-half, and Helena Grace, 14 months.
Rutherford recently opened in an interview with Pint Size Social about her priorities when raising her little ones. “In this day and age, every mom is different and every relationship with [her] children is different,” Rutherford said. “It depends on how involved you want to be, and I really want to be involved.”
The actress, who works one-to-four days a week (and has a few months off each year) counts herself lucky to have a job she loves and allows her to spend a pretty decent amount of time with her kids. But she also credits her own mom, Ann Edwards, for instilling her current values in her, noting that Edwards was always “very present” in Rutherford and her siblings’ lives, even while working. “I think you can do both,but there is obviously more pressure on the woman than on the man because the man goes to work but he doesn’t have to be pregnant, or give birth or breastfeed,” she said.
Though she plans to continue acting for sometime, Rutherford insists her kids are her number one priority, and she will stay quite involved in their lives. In fact, she said her childhood dream was to “be a mom.”
She definitely seems like a pretty grounded celeb, but we can’t help but wonder: How many nannies are helping her stay so “involved” in those little kids’ daily lives?
