Bristol Palin on Her Relationship with Levi: “It’s Over.”
It’s been a whirlwind of emotions this week for Alaska’s most famous First Daughter, Bristol Palin. The 19-year-old teen mom announced on July 14th that she and on-again, off-again boyfriend Levi Johnston were indeed on again, this time with an engagement ring to boot! The couple spoke openly about their impending marriage and building a life together for the sake of their son, Tripp, even while battling the rumors of family feuds.
But this week, the shockingly abrupt announcement came from Palin’s camp that the relationship was over, and this time for good. With many scratching their heads at what could have possibly gone wrong, this week’s People magazine investigates what happened to make the couple break up for good.
Earlier this week, news broke that Johnston possibly fathered another child with his ex-girlfriend. While those claims have been all but struck down, the burn resonated with Palin, and hurt even worse when she realized Johnston’s first love would always be fame. “He’s obsessed with the limelight,” she says, citing a video that Johnston made mocking her mother, former Alaskan governor Sarah Palin. Added pressure came from Johnston to star in a reality show, and Palin knew it was over. “I broke up with him,” she told the magazine.
