Sara Gilbert 234x300 Mom Sara Gilbert Comes Out of the Closet!Sara Gilbert, made famous for her role as Darlene on Rosanne, has come out of the closet!

Sara raises her children Levi, 5, and daughter Sawyer, almost, 3, with TV producer Allison Adler. Sara gave birth to Sawyer and Allison have birth to Levi.

The thirty-five year old mother of two announced the news today during a press conference. Up until now, she has always been very private about her personal life.   Why come out now?

Sara has a new talk show coming up with Julie Chen, Leah Remini, Holly Robinson Peete, Sharon Osbourne and Marissa Jaret Winokour that will focus on parenting so it was important for her to have everything in the open.

“This is a whole new world for me,” she said. “I’m not an expert on this, or I don’t analyze these things,” she explained later. “I’m just sort of living my life. I don’t think [being out] will be a problem…I don’t ever really think of things as being out or in…I just think I am who I am, and when topics come up that are appropriate, I’ll talk about them and share when it seems right.”

Good for her! Today’s New York Times lists several studies that suggest children raised by same-sex couples are “certainly no worse off (and in some ways are arguably better off) than children raised by heterosexual couples.” But Sara probably already knew that.

Out? She was never in. She has been with her partner very publicly for years.
