Linda Monjack Defends Simon Against Rumors
Amidst rumors that the late Simon Monjack drained his late wife Brittany Murphy’s bank account, Monjack’s mom is stepping in. Monjack, who passed away two months ago–apparently from the same causes that killed Murphy–has been the center of many allegations made about him withdrawing lots of Murphy’s money.
Murphy’s former business manager, Jeffrey Morgenroth, is making these claims against Monjack, saying the widower left Murphy’s mom, Sharon, with little in the way of funds for herself. But Linda is fighting back. “I think there were financial problems [before their deaths],” Linda said. “They were certainly acting like there were problems. Sharon was asking friends for money and I don’t know why.”
Linda said Sharon’s excessive spending is the reason she’s having money problems, not Simon. That claim isn’t good enough for Morgenroth, though, who said he saw many of Murphy’s financial statements. “There was money being withdrawn by Simon, hundreds of thousands,” he said. “Even the pension plan, that was a really nice dollar amount until [Simon drained it].”
