Stella McCartney: Private School vs Public School

90918P14 MCCARTNEY B GR 05 200x300 Stella McCartney: Private School vs Public SchoolWhere to send your child to school is one of the most difficult choices a parent has to make. A person’s education affects their entire lives. I myself went to public school and loved it, but would like my child to at least start their days at a Montessori school. Meanwhile, the man went to private school and is dead set on the kids being home schooled. We both have our own logic and reasons and pros and cons and list of things that take priority on what we individually consider important. What will pan out remains to be seen.

The decision process is something every family goes through and Stella McCartney is no different. The multi-millionaire and daughter of perhaps the most famous rock star ever, Beatle Paul McCartney, Stella went to public school and feels that it was an excellent experience. Her children Miller,4, and daughter Bailey, 3, are going to private school, but it’s a decision she struggles with.

“It’s one of my biggest internal struggles – the whole schooling system in London and the fact that my kids are going to a posh school. It freaks me out,’ she told the UK’s Daily Mail.

Stella went to a comprehensive school (the British version of public) in a rural area because her father felt she would be more “down-to-earth.”  Of the experience she says, “Going to the normal local comprehensive was one of the best things that could have happened to me. It was healthy to see how most people in the world live. That’s why I freak out that my kids aren’t doing that.”

For now, her kids are enrolled at a private school in West London that is also attended by the children of Claudia Schiffer and Elle Macpherson. However, things could change. “If at any stage it looks like they’re becoming total jerks and saying ”hello mummy” in posh voices, instead of running in and just being their awful selves, then you have to knock it on the head,” she said.

What do you think is better? Public or private?

I had a similar situation with our child. Currently our teenager was in public school, however; there were many issues that were coming up such as substance abuse & peer pressure. We had to resort to aprivate school.I researched a lot to figure out which school would fit the best for our child, and what would be best for what he needed. We had many neighbor speak about west ridge academy in utah
It was school that helped with struggling teenagers. It was the best decision we could make for him. I guess in some ways public school has it perks, however; private school was the best option for our son
