Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston Engaged! Here’s How it Happened
Bristol Palin engaged? You betcha! It’s not exactly the news we were waiting for. Bristol and Levi Johnston, son Tripp’s babydaddy, have proven to be a couple of the Gosselin variety, or even Jake and Vienna: played out in the press, and not kindly. Yet today they’re splashed across the cover of Us Weekly, with Bristol, 19, announcing “We got engaged two weeks ago. It felt right, even though we don’t have the approval of our parents.” In fact, according to the couple, they haven’t even told grandma Sarah Palin yet. Say what?
Though Levi recently apologized for lying in public about the Palins, Sarah’s still apparently not a fan of the young man and his “aspiring porn” career. “It is intimidating and scary just to think about what her reaction is going to be, says Bristol. “Hopefully she will jump on board.”
This isn’t the couple’s first engagement. Bristol and Johnston were very publicly betrothed during Bristol’s high-profile campaign-trail pregnancy, but broke things off when son Tripp (now 18 months) was just two weeks old. Their romance rekindled when they got together recently to talk custody. “I really thought we were over,” Levi said to Us. “So when I went, I had no hope. I think we both just started talking — and then we took Tripp for a walk.” Adds Bristol, “When he left that night, we didn’t hug or kiss, but I was thinking how different it was. He texted me: ‘I miss you. I love you. I want to be with you again’ … I was in shock.”
And with that, there was one less teen single-mom in Alaska.
And as of today, I assure you grandma knows all about it! No word on how long Bristol will be grounded for her hasty and unapproved engagement, or when Levi will publicly apologize for proposing to Bristol. But seriously folks, we here at Famecrawler wish the best for Bristol and Palin. And for Tripp who, from the cover photo, appears to be the cutest baby in political history.

Ethan commented on Jul 15 10 at 12:49 pmIncredible. It seemed like just a handful of weeks back these guys appeared to be at each others throats and also he was dissing Sarah Palin. Now they are sneaking around behind her moms back and get engaged and inform her via the magazine. Would seem like she has quite a few mommy issues perhaps?
