How Long Could Mel Gibson Be Thrown In Jail For If Found Guilty Of Domestic Violence?
Mel Gibson has proven himself to be a horrible human being time and time and time (need I go on?) again. He’s the kind of person the saying “Lock him up and throw away the key,” was designed for. I am pretty sure they can make Lethal Weapon 5 without him.
The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department has launched an investigation into the domestic violence claims against his ex girlfriend and mother of his child, Oksana Grigorieva. So far, the allegations are that he is the world’s worst person. He has allegedly punched her teeth out, shaken their baby Lucia, hit her while she was holding their baby, and screamed racist misogynistic expletives at her, amongst other generally horrifying behaviors.
So how long could he be locked in the slammer?
A domestic violence charge is only a misdemeanor and carries a maximum penalty of only one year in jail. However, if he hurt her severely, which it seems like he did, the courts could upgrade the charge to assault with enhancement of great bodily injury. This carries a maximum penalty of four years behind bars in a state prison.
“Investigators are treating this case very carefully, they’ll be determined to nail him. It’s highly likely he’ll do time (in jail) for this if found guilty” a source tells PopTarts.
I hope they make an example out of him.

Cheryl K commented on Jul 12 10 at 2:46 pmBelieve none of what you hear and half of what you see. I heard the tapes recorded and it seemed as if she was leading him. Didn’t seem hard to do because he was not in control. If she was holding the baby how was he shaking her? Things that make you go Hmmmmm. I heard that he caught her shaking the baby, and beat her which still isn’t right in my book. I wish this kind of stuff could stay out of the public eye. The media sucks, and so do people that use it to get their way.
