Eric Stonestreet of Modern Family Is Thrilled With His Emmy Nomination
Three of the six actors nominated for best actor in a comedy for the 2010 Emmy Awards are stars on the hit show Modern Family. Think the show has a good chance of taking an award home in this category? We do.
Actors Eric Stonestreet, who plays the over-the-top Cameron Tucker, and Ty Burrell who plays the not-all-there dad Phil Dunphy, both spoke with CNN about their nods. “It’s an honor,” Stonestreet said. “I’ve been an actor for 14 years and have never been a part of anyone’s conversation about being nominated for an Emmy and I am just proud of all of our actors.” Leave it to a hilarious show about a completely dysfunctional extended family to finally put Stonestreet in the spotlight he deserves.
As for Burrell, he recognizes what we all do–this family show deserves to be on the air. “It feels like an incredible statement about the show,” he said. “I feel so lucky to be experiencing this moment when so many facets of the show are being recognized and it’s going to be extraordinary to go back to work.”
Indeed, the show is also up for best comedy and many other Emmy Awards, including ones for directing, art direction, and casting. Co-star Sofia Vergara–a celeb mom herself and a co-presenter of last night’s Emmy nominations 2010 list presentation–is also up for best supporting actress in a comedy.
Looks like family television–as off-beat as it may be–is getting its time to shine at this year’s Emmy Awards.
