Bret Michaels On Judging American Idol: I Would Bring True Grit Back To The Show
Ever since Simon Cowell announced he was leaving American Idol it has been a free for all on guesses of who will take his place. As the resident mean guy, will the execs try and stick to the formula and find someone just as cranky or will they go in another direction?
Dad Bret Michaels is one star up for the spot. “They did a poll and I think it was Madonna, P. Diddy, Howard Stern and myself, and I took 50% or 60% of the vote and that’s tremendous. I would love to be a judge on American Idol. I think I would bring a lot to the table,” he told Parade Magazine.
Bret has a meeting with execs in a few weeks to talk about him potentially stepping into Simon’s shoes.
“I’m not built exactly like Simon Cowell, but, at the same time, I respect what he did,” continues Bret. “But I would have to bring my own personality. I think if they have someone in there to try to imitate Simon, it would be a mistake; he’s an original. Bring Bret Michaels in to be original to who and what I am. Bring someone who can bring a little grit, true grit back to the show.”
Bret is definitely riding high on life since his brush with death from a brain aneurysm just a few months ago. He recovered quickly and went on to win Celebrity Apprentice and hit the road with his band, proving he’s a fighter that can do anything he sets his mind to. Not only would the show bolster and maintain his career, but it would keep him in one spot where he would be able to spend more time with his two daughters Raine and Jorja.
Who would you rather watch: Bret, Madonna, or Howard Stern?
