INFphoto 1320266 697x1024 Warren Beattys daughters: Ella, Isobel, and Kathlyn/Stephen (PHOTOS)In the wake of rumors that Warren Beatty and Annette Bening’s oldest daughter, Kathlyn Beatty, wants to get gender reassignment surgery, photos have shown up, taken yesterday, of all three Bening-Beatty girls. That’s Ella and Isobel, with their father at left. Below, check out Kathlyn, who is reportedly living as a boy under the name Stephen. Most notably, the package on the back of the bike in the Kathlyn Beatty photo.

According to reports, which I stress are unconfirmed, Warren and Annette aren’t happy about their 18-year-old’s desire for gender reassignment surgery (frequently referred to as a sex-change operation). It’s the same type of surgery that Cher’s child, Chas Bono (formerly Chastity Bono) underwent a short while ago. So it seems fitting that the message splashed across the box that Kathlyn is toting around reads, “I love you.”

Love is at the heart of that. I urge you to see Boy’s Don’t Cry, if you haven’t already. Or to listen to this excellent NPR piece on two families dealing with kids and gender preference. It really has to do with accepting who, ultimately, a child is inside.

I am a male to female transgendered person and I know what he is going through. It’s not easy to live in the wrong body, having people telling you to live one way but know that you should being living the opposite. When i was growing up I was told that I had to wear suits and ties and play with trucks when i wanted to waer pretty dresses and play with barbies. I was always jealous when i’d see girls in pretty dresses. so if becoming a male makes him more comfortable then who are we to say he shouldn’t have that oppotunity. I say go for it STEPHEN I back you 100% and don’t let anybody tell different.
