ABC Considers Kate Gosselin as Next Bachelorette
If Kate Gosselin become ABC’s next Bachelorette, we have Ryan Seacrest to thank, or write hate letters to, depending on your viewpoint. Seacrest pitched the idea to the franchise’s creator, Mike Fleiss, during his radio program, and not only did Fleiss not hang up on him, he seemed to warm to the idea.
Fleiss said: “I guess it’s kinda interesting. I’ve never thought about it…Seriously, It would have to be a special edition of the Bachelorettte—I wouldn’t want to jump the shark.”
Um, does someone want to tell Mike Fleiss the term “jump the shark” has jumped the shark? Regardless, I think this idea is splendid. It will FINALLY give credence to the much-overused line by host Chris Harrison: “the most shocking rose ceremony ever.” Can’t you just picture Kate’s eight kids mauling the final four contenders on the hometown date and each praying they don’t get a rose? And Kate saying to three contenders, one after the other, “Will you accept this rose?” and they each scream no and high-tail it out of the mansion? Good tv, people!
I think they might have to lure unsuspecting bachelors and not fill them in on who The Bachelorette is… imagine their faces as they hop out of the limo! Or maybe they only pick foreigners who would have no clue who Kate is? Can you tell I’m excited by the concept? Let’s hope Kate is game for it.
The good news for ABC? They can recycle Ali’s blond hair extensions next season if they pick Kate.
