Alice Tan Ridley, Gabourey Sidibe’s Mom, Rocks “America’s Got Talent” (VIDEO)
Alice Tan Ridley? That’s the question of the morning after last night’s America’s Got Talent, which was ruled, ruled, by a woman named Alice Tan Ridley — who just happens to be mom of Precious’ Gabourey Sidibe. Is talent genetic? Ridley’s performance seems to be proof. Sidibe’s mom easily moved past the audition process, and is heading to Las Vegas, for America’s Got Talent‘s next round.
So why haven’t we seen Alice Tan Ridley before? Her usual stage is the New York City subway system (VIDEO of her singing on the subway platform, below).
“Alice, millions of people must have gone back and forth on that subway over the 20 years. How come nobody signed you?” asked judge and fellow-celeb mom Sharon Osbourne. That’s a good question.
Last night Alice Tan Ridley sang Etta James’ “At Last.” In the video below, filmed in the subway system, she’s singing Glady’s Knight’s “Midnight Train to Georgia.”

S.K.Stacy commented on Sep 08 10 at 10:45 pmI think it’s disgraceful that from the first time Ms.Ridley came on stage, Sharon gave her a standing ovation and the judges gave her the impression she would likely win. When it came to a decision, Sharon dropped her flat.
