Kate told David Letterman last night that Ryder, “Wears this splint around his hand and there’s nothing wrong with him. He just likes it because people ask him what happened. So I literally watch him make up stories every time somebody asks him about his splint.”

Awe, how cute. Weird. But, cute.

“He’d be like ‘I was on a bike, and I fell off this bike…’ and then one time he was climbing a rock… T-ball was one, and then he said to me the other day.,” she continued. “He goes ‘Mom I figured it out! A splint, a shower, a shave, cologne. The ladies love it! There’s nothing more fun to me than watching your kids come up with stuff like that.”

Sounds like he’s going to be quite the stud!

sounds like he’s going to be quite the stud???? is that what you wrote because you couldn’t think of anything else to say or what??? that’s ridiculous, really ridiculous. i think the cast thing is a little bit weird, i know on other websites people are completely freaking the heck out about it, and i agree, it’s a little off-putting to hear her talk about it so non-chalantly and so approvingly, but she IS an actress and this sort of thing IS EXACTLY what she does FOR A LIVING, and she comes from a very big Hollywood Family so maybe she just really thinks this is normal. i think the main thing i want to say is that, NO, this sort of behavior in public and with people really isn’t that normal, but i wouldn’t go jumping the gun and saying that the kid is sliding down a very slippery manipulative path to liardom yet, this little odd quirk alone can’t tell that. there would have to be a few other behaviors thrown in there to make it certain that something is definitely NOT normal in his little life. i mean, let’s see….. hmmmm…..his parents are divorced and his father remarried recently AND had another baby very recently, so he’s no longer the only child. not only that, his mother is a jet-setting actress who is busy filming and on set and doing press junkets and blah blah blah. she has a very spotty dating history where it seems she gets VERY attached to men quickly, anyone remember when her and Lance Armstrong had all their kids spending all their holidays and stuff together, fostering a sense of family, giving Ryder a little built in family, only to quickly take that away a few months later, and then to start dating other atheletes, who knows how involved she let them get with Ryder, hopefully she learned her lesson. I will say that he doesn’t look very happy in many of the pictures i see of him, an yes, i know, if i had a pack of paparazzi following me around i probably wouldn’t be too happy, but the paparazzi in NY is a little different than in LA, it tends to be just one lone guy across the street snapping pictures, you’d think you’d get at least ONE happy shot in, at least one…somewhere…sometime. so is the kid disturbed, is this odd behavior, something that she should be a little concerned about and NOT bragging about to the press??? or is this something that all little kids do to some degree, like when they dress up and play princess, like when i let my daughter wear her princess dress to the grocery store and my son wore his pirate outfit? is it the same thing??? in my eyes, not really. my children dont make up extravagant stories to try to convince friends and family and strangers that they REALLY ARE a princess from a far off land, they don’t enjoy getting sympathy from people like that, they would rather just play and run around and be silly and typically ignore the adults, not try to trick them and lure them into a sympathy or attention getting story about hurting themselves….. so i don’t know what the hell i think. seriously. like i said, i definitaly agree that this is sort of weird, but if he seems to be a normal, healthy, well adjusted kid on every other front then HEY!~GO FOR IT RYDER!!!! you keep that little splint on and have a grand old time concocting stories and making things up and reveling in the fact that you are so silly and so smart and that these adults are just so silly and so ridiculous that you can trick them and get one over on them…. go for it! cuz, honestly, that might be all that it is!!!! i guess we’ll never or know, or wait! actually, we probably will, just wait about 14years and we’ll see what kind of news Ryder Robinson is making in the press and we’ll see if he grew up to be the healthy, happily, well adjusted kid that i hope to god he is, or, we’ll see the opposite. guess we’ll be waiting…
