Kelly Cutrone’s Sunday Fun In NYC With Daughter Ava
Kelly Cutrone, owner of the New York city PR agency People’s Revolution and star of my favorite Bravo reality show “Kell on Earth,” is more than just a take charge, fashion PR powerhouse. She’s also a single mother.
On the show we got a glimpse into Kelly’s hectic life and saw her frequently taking time out from work to play the loving mother to her 8-year-old daughter, Ava. She was seen getting her ready for school, taking her on walks, and never once told her “If you have to cry, go outside.”
What fascinates me about Kelly, and makes me respect and admire her despite the excessive swearing, is the fact that she really does seem able to handle it all. She runs a successful business, manages to be an excellent mother, and never seems frazzled.
On weekends, Kelly and Ava go to Cold Springs, NY but also spend a lot of Sunday’s at home in NYC.
What’s regular Sunday like?
“I taught my daughter, since the time she was born: we sleep in on the weekends,” she tells the New York Times. “We sleep until 9:30 or 10. We walk to Dean & DeLuca or Grandaisy Bakery and buy bread and make French toast. We walk around. We buy all the papers. Ava reads the comics.”
To make sure Ava gets to express her creativity, they go to the Children’s Museum. “It’s basically like an art studio for kids. They can make their own costumes, and they have arts and crafts projects. They have everything from, like, boondoggles to tissue papers. They hang their work up, and they can take it home,” says Kelly.
They also take time to hit up the park on Thompson Street so that Ava can have a relationship with nature. Personally, I live in NYC and hate to admit this, but sometimes I almost forget that trees exist so I salute Kelly for being attentive to this need.
After that, Sunday dinner is at 8 at Omen, on Thompson and Prince, with Mary Ellen Mark and her husband, Martin Bell, or they go to Angelo’s in Little Italy. Dessert is around the corner at Ferrara’s.
