Michelle Obama Stunning in Blue Dress at State Dinner
With her kids in bed and homework duty done for the night, Michelle Obama put away her mom-wear and maintained her reputation as the most stylish First Lady since the days of Jackie Kennedy. She showed up at the State Dinner last night in a stunning, shimmery one-shouldered blue gown. The dress was designed by New York designer Peter Soronen, whose fashions Mrs. Obama has worn before, although he actually didn’t know that she had chosen to wear the dress to the dinner until he saw the photographs. He made the gown three weeks ago, and told The Huffington Post “It’s already been extremely exciting sitting at computer today.”
Turns out there was a dinner party going on there, too.
Celebrity Chef Rick Bayless was flown in from Chicago to handle the food, which included Oregon Wagyu Beff with Oaxacan Mole suace , which sounds way, way better than the dinosaur chicken nuggets I had last night. In addition to Mexican President Felipe Calderon and his wife, Margarita Zavala, who were the guests of honor, Beyonce, Jay-Z, Eva Longoria Parker and Whoopi Goldberg were among the 200 guests.
Oh, to take a break from kiddie cuisine, throw on a hot dress and host a dinner party—and not actually have to cook it myself! Michelle Obama is one lucky lady.
