Mindy McCready to Battle Mom for Custody of Son
Troubled former country music star and Celebrity Rehab alumn Mindy McCready says she’s ready to regain custody of her four-year-old son Zander from her mother, Gayle Inge, but apparently her mom isn’t ready to give the boy back to her daughter. McCready has had a dramatic several years, battling addiction, winding up in jail, enduring an abusive relationship and the destruction of a once-promising singing career. And while she is releasing her first album in eight years, her publicist says: “Getting back guardianship of her son Zander is her priority.”
Zander lives in Fort Myers, Florida with his grandmother who McCready’s rep says “has take a liking to the boy.” Well, good thing! Since she’s the grandmother and he lives with her and all. (Strange choice of words, don’t you think?) The boy has lived with Inge since he was 18 months old when McCready signed over temporary guardianship for his “safety and health.” McCready lives in Nashville and has visited Zander occasionally.
