Matt Lauer Walks Out On Wife?
I used to discount the National Enquirer as complete fiction, but they’ve stepped up their truth telling game in the past few years and uncovered some major scoops making it harder to just breeze over the headlines with a chuckle.
This week’s cover proclaims in GIANT letters “Matt Lauer Walks Out On Wife. New Cheating Scandal Rocks Marriage.”
I sincerely love Matt Lauer and feel like I personally know him since I have been tuning in to the Today Show for so long. I like to think he’s a great guy, a wonderful dad to his three kids with wife Annette Lauer, and a great, faithful husband. But as Tiger Woods, Jesse James, and a slew of other A-listers have proven, you just never know.
Could this be true? Let’s look at the details…
Back in 2006, while Annette was pregnant, Matt was caught cheating with a 26 year old. The couple almost divorced but then reconciled. The woman involved in the cheating scandal’s marriage ended over the affair.
But since he did it once, has he learned his lesson or once a cheater, always a cheater?
Annette suffered a bout of anorexia that was treated. The causes were said to be post-partum depression and trouble in the marriage. According to the article, Matt has been wanting a divorce but NBC will not allow it since viewers want to watch a man in a stable, wedded relationship.
There are little to no facts in the story except for Matt’s past indiscretions and the need for TV execs to have a wholesome appearance, so for now I’ll choose not to believe. Let’s all hope this is untrue and the last we hear of it.
