Does Miley Cyrus Lap Dance Video Make Her a Bad Role Model?
The internet is on fire today with a video in which teen queen Miley Cyrus is caught busting a few sexy dance moves at a wrap party last summer, including her grinding with a guy while he is seated at the bar, which some people are calling a lap dance. The guy in question is 44-year-old director Adam Shankman, Miley was 16 at the time the footage was shot, and parents of young girls around the country are now wondering if they should take all those Hannah Montana posters out of their kids bedrooms and torch them in a bonfire in the backyard.
My kids are still in diapers, so this is a little out of my wheelhouse. But the notion that any expression of sexuality on the part of a teenage girl should be roundly condemned is completely offensive. In fact, Miley Cyrus isn’t doing anything here that is all that surprising. Was anyone actually under the impression that Miley only took part in line dances, or old school waltzes, taking care to leave a respectable distance between herself and her partner? There’s no indication that Miley is drunk or stoned in this video. She isn’t stripping off her clothes in the back room of a pool hall. And the guy she’s dancing with is a friend, who, as a point of fact, happens to be gay. So there was little chance that her grinding was going to be taken as a come-on. In short, she’s at a wrap party for a movie project, she’s surrounded by her peers and co-workers, and she’s cutting a little bit loose. So what? How does that spell doom for our daughters?
But like I said, that’s my take, and my kids only have eyes for Elmo, so I haven’t had to deal with this in practice yet. Do you see it differently? Has Miley Cyrus gone the way of Britney Spears and become a little toxic?

It is inappropriate for a 44-year-old man to accept a lap dance from a 16-year-old girl, and even more inappropriate for a 44-year-old man to encourage this behavior. He’s old enough to be her father, and I am sure that if they weren’t celebs and you heard about a 44 year old man receiving a lap dance from a 16 year old you would have some negative things to say

For example, you are the parent of a sixteen-year old teenager, who is at a wrap party without you, surrounded by people rubbing their croch’s against each other….totally disgusting. A 44-year old guy starts doing some sexy, provocative grinding with you, and she rubs back. Eww…how is that joking around with your friends? Really, think about the the dumb thing you said, she’s not joking. This guy is 30 years older than her. What is wrong with you people????

Not just that– but also while little kids are LOOKING UP TO YOU!!!! Miley Cyrus will never achieve the success she dreams of. She is a very immature and infamous slut! People say, “Oh, whatever, you see teens doing that at dances!!” Really? Because I NEVER saw a peer dancing it all off with a teacher or parent!! Plus, just because some slutty girls are doing just that at dances doesn’t mean that’s okay or appropriate. Just like Miley, they are those dumb and childish girls who mistake that having fun is drinking some vodka and smoking pot.
