Liam Neeson and Sons Honor Natasha Richardson
More than a year after her tragic death, friends and family gathered for a birthday memoriam in honor of actress Natasha Richardson at Studio 54 in New York.
Richardson, who would have been 47, was on a family ski trip with husband Liam Neeson and their two sons when she suffered a head injury on the slopes. Initially thought to be a minor accident, it became apparent hours later that Richardson suffered a major brain hemorrhage. She was airlifted to a New York hospital, where she died, leaving behind Neeson, and their sons, Michael, 15, and Daniel, 14.
Among the guests joining Neeson and his sons were Sarah Jessica Parker, Uma Thurman, and fashion luminaries Anna Wintour, Donna Karen and Diane von Furstenberg.
As sad as this is, it is wonderful to see Neeson playing tribute to his wife in this way. It also sets a great example for his sons to see that in the midst of great sadness, you can still celebrate your loved ones, and dwell, not on their loss, but on what you gained by having them in your life.
